A project that has been rumoured as early as 2008 is now under construction in Bergen, Norway. The tall timber building is 14 stories tall and set have a total height of 45m. The project uses a unique approach in tall projects with an outrigger truss system used as the primary load bearing system. Basically this systems takes a bridge truss and rotates it 90˚. This combination of glulam trusses with pre-modulated building compartments is unique in this enterprising combination. This has also allowed the implementation of innovative weather protection systems for the unique timber based residential tower. The project group consists of the following primary firms: Artec – architecture Sweco – engineering Moelven – glulam and CLT structures Kodumaja – building modules Images: CTBUH Global News -NS |
