A Global revolution |
There is an excitement building from Vaxjo to London, from Dornbirn to Melbourne, from Milan to British Columbia and many other regions. Myths are being dispelled and popular wisdom is being rewritten. The era of the wood skyscraper is dawning.
In Hackney, Dornbirn, Melbourne, Milan and other progressive centres, there are already eight, nine and 10-storey wood buildings. A 14-storey project is currently underway in Norway and many more are on drawing boards of progressive designers around the world, including MG Architecture, Fast&Epp, Skidmore Owings Merrill, Arup, Equilibrium, Waugh Thistleton, Lend Lease, Eurban and many others. These projects are part of an exciting international trend that must not be missed; wood building structures are rising everywhere. This web-site tracks this evolution of this renaissance as it transpires. It's aim is to spread a single message, if you are considering an engineered wood structure that is 8-storeys or taller...you are NOT alone. There are more than 30 such builds around the world already and the number is growing. We will follow them here, until they are too numerous to count. |
